Marketing Assistant for UW-Madison Student Housing

UW-Madison University Housing; Marketing Assistant; 1 position

LOCATION: on campus (Slichter Hall)
COMPENSATION: $8.85/hr
DURATION: March 2010-May 2011; 10-15 hrs/week with up to 20/hrs available during summer. Some evening availabiltiy required.

TASKS INCLUDE:

• Perform administrative services, such as word processing, proofreading, fact checking, preparing packets for distribution
• Develop and recommend creative approaches for advertising strategies and social media campaigns to effectively reach many different audiences
• Write original content, including feature articles and blog posts
• Collaborate with other staff to maintain institutional sites in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other media
• Assist with production and distribution of posters, table tents, newsletters, and displays
• Assist with marketing research and analysis (quantitative and qualitative)
• Occasional project work related to planning and staffing special events.

QUALIFICATIONS INLCUDE:

• Possess excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with principles of marketing and public relations.
• Willingness to try new things and work independently within deadlines.
• Experience using social media web sites.
• Attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills, and strong writing/editing skills.
• Hands-on experience using desktop software, minimally including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; also helpful: Excel, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
• Enthusiasm for the University of Wisconsin–Madison and ability to promote the benefits of living on campus in University Housing.
