PR/Special Events Intern for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin; PR/Special Events Internship

LOCATION: Butler, WI
COMPENSATION: $500 stipend will be given; school credit can be arranged; work-related expenses will be reimbursed
DURATION: May - August 2010 start and end dates flexible; Minimum of 10 hours per week (preferably 2-3 days/wk) with hours varying per week due to event requirements

TASKS INCLUDE:
  • Coordinate distribution of publicity materials for Walk & Run for Wishes in the Metro Milwaukee area
  • Determine target distribution sites for publicity materials 
  • Track success of campaign
  • Develop relationships with corporate partners
  • Assist in increasing team participation and revenue for Walk & Run for Wishes  
  • Collaborate with staff to develop communication materials
  • Recruit and develop relationships with Team Captains
  • Encourage team fundraising efforts
  • Assist staff with the planning and execution of events and other fundraising programs
  • Write and distribute press releases on internal and external fundraisers, wishes and other Foundation news as needed
  • Assist in the writing and/or editing of special event collateral materials, newsletter articles and Web site articles as needed
  • Some general office work will be required

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
  • At least sophomore standing enrolled in a college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Public Relations, Communications or related field with Minimum GPA of 3.00/4.00
  • Organized, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Friendly and able to build rapport with different groups of people, mature and responsible Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous events and/or volunteering experience preferred
  • Access to an automobile is essential
  • Familiarity with the Metro Milwaukee area helpful
