Community Health Internship

They emphasize that the opportunity is for any major and applicants need not have training in the Health Sciences. Hopefully this works for someone!

I haven't looked at the first e-mail too extensively, but I did notice a Career Mentoring program through PRSA. Full Time Communications Intern at the National Cancer Institute

Hey Guys! I was really into this internship until I finally found that it requires being enrolled in or a recent graduate of a graduate program. Still, it may apply to a few of you out there and I had already typed this all up so I hope it helps someone. Looks like a great internship!

National Cancer Institute; Health Communications Intern; multiple positions

LOCATION: Various offices and agencies
COMPENSATION: $27,000-$34,000 total stipend based on experience and GPA
DURATION: For Fall 2010, full time position M-F 8:30am to 5:00pm

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: Interns are assigned to an office within the NCI, past interns have worked with the Office of Media Relations, the President's Cancer Panel, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, etc. Each intern is assigend a mentor responsible for supervising the intern's training plan, learning objectives and projects. A variety of professional development seminars will be offered which interns are encouraged to attend.

TASKS INCLUDE:
  • Researching and developing briefing materials
  • Writing newsletters for internal and external audiences
  • Developing comprehensive communication plans
  • Integrating medical records with various health alerts and information
  • Writing, editing and proofreading health and science stories
  • Redesigning and updating Web sites
  • Creating and revising Consumer Health Profiles materials
